What we cannot promise
Information, not advice
Reviews, bonus breakdowns and state guides are reference material. None of it counts as legal, tax or investment counsel, and they are no nudge to stake money. If a question turns on the law of your state, on taxes or on a large amount, ask a licensed professional where you live.
We are not affiliated with any state regulator and do not speak for one. When we summarise a statute or a regulator’s rule, that is our reading on the date checked, not an official interpretation.
State law decides
There is no federal licence for online casinos. Real-money casino apps are legal only in the states that license them — at the time of writing New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia among those we cover — and only while you are physically inside that state. Sweepstakes and social casinos sit under different rules, which also vary by state and keep changing.
Your eligibility is settled by the law of the place you stand in and by the operator’s own checks. Using a VPN, someone else’s identity or an out-of-state address to get around geolocation breaks operator rules and can break the law; winnings from such play are routinely voided.
Where the numbers come from
Match percentages, minimum deposits, playthrough, game weighting, maximum bets while a bonus is live, payout windows and eligible states come from operator terms pages and regulator filings. Each page carries the date we last checked it. Even so:
- operators change promotions with little or no notice, sometimes within days;
- the same brand can run different offers in different states;
- payout times depend on the method, the amount, verification status and the operator’s own queue;
- a game can return a different percentage in one state than in another, because regulators approve configurations separately;
- a licence can be suspended or a brand withdrawn from a state before we re-check the page.
Read the live terms in the app before you deposit. Where they differ from what we wrote, theirs apply.
Bonuses and playthrough
A bonus summary is always shorter than the terms it summarises, and the clause that voids a win may not fit into our table. Deposit matches, bonus spins and lossback offers usually carry playthrough, game restrictions, expiry dates and a ceiling on winnings from bonus funds. If an operator declines a bonus we mentioned, that dispute is with the operator: we do not issue, credit or honour promotions.
Ratings and order
The order of operators in our lists is an editorial choice, and commercial relationships play a part in it, as set out in Get Bonus buttons explained. Sitting near the top certifies nothing about an operator’s honesty, its payout speed or its fit for you. We do not audit operators’ internal controls, their support desks or the outcome of any individual game.
Payments and taxes
A card issuer can refuse a casino deposit, charge a cash-advance fee or flag the account. Online banking, card, e-wallet and cash-at-cage options differ by operator and by state. The IRS treats casino wins as income, and many states tax them too; operators may withhold and report large wins. We do not calculate tax for anyone — ask a tax professional before filing your annual return.
Demo play is not real play
Free-play versions show how a game works, but a few hundred demo spins say nothing reliable about real-money results. Return-to-player is an average over millions of rounds, not a refund of that share of an evening’s stake. No system, pattern or time of day changes the house edge, and we publish none.
Operators and other sites
Links through /go/ lead off this domain to operators outside our control. Sign-up, KYC, deposits, promotions, cash-outs and closing an account are handled by the operator, not by us. If a licensed operator will not resolve a complaint, use its written complaints procedure and then the regulator that licensed it; we are not a party, a mediator or an arbitrator.
When gambling stops being fun
Gambling is paid entertainment, and only spare cash — money whose loss changes nothing — belongs in it. Warning signs include chasing losses, borrowing to play, hiding play from family and playing longer than planned. Every state licensee offers deposit caps, time-outs and self-exclusion inside the app. Anyone struggling can talk to 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738), the National Problem Gambling Helpline — phone, SMS or web chat, no charge, staffed day and night, reachable nationwide. That line is not for emergencies: if someone’s life is at risk, call 911 or 988.
Mistakes
We get things wrong — a figure, a date, a brand name. Send the page address and the source of the correct figure to [email protected]. Once we have checked it the page is fixed and re-dated. A number without a source is left out rather than guessed, even when an operator supplies it.
Older articles inherited from earlier owners of the domain are being reviewed one by one; trust the date on the page, not the date in the URL or the archive.
Limitation of liability
Within whatever limits the governing law sets, the publisher bears no responsibility for direct, indirect or consequential loss connected with reading or using these pages — gambling losses among them — delayed or voided withdrawals, cancelled bonuses, closed accounts or the legal consequences of playing where it is not allowed. The site comes as is, with no warranty of uninterrupted access, completeness or currency.
Where a statute forbids excluding some liability, that liability stays exactly where the statute puts it.
Names and images
Every operator, studio and game mentioned keeps its rights in its name, logo and screenshots; we reproduce them only so the reviewed product can be recognised. Rights holders who object can write to us; we will look at the request and take the item down where it is justified.
